Air
Moon Safari

We hit one of the hipper music stores in one of the un-hipper suburbs of Detroit in search of either the new Brian Jonestown Massacre CD or this one. The stars were all aligned for us to discover Air. We had read a little about them a couple of days earlier, and, with piqued interested, had heard a tune from Moon Safari on WDET (unfortunately, Liz our favorite, wasn't spinning it though).

Fortunately for us, the store had never heard of BJM. So with just a little feeling of having to settle for the consolation prize, we picked up this one and made our way for the checkout counter. We bring the CD up to the young, attractive, dark hair, dark eyed girl working the counter. She picks it up slowly, gently, her eyes, fully lit up, rise to meet mine. "This is an incredible CD" she says longingly as she tucks the disc in next to her as if cradling a baby. "It's amazing" she continues softly, "It's just so ..........." - a long pause as we watch her playing it back in her mind. At a loss for words, she just and nods her head up and down slightly and smiles, comes back to reality and rings us up.

We bring the disc home, play it back to back three times in a row and understand exactly what she didn't say.
